Question training for races

hello out there!

I recently joined this site, and was hoping to find some people out there who have done 5K and 10K races -- i've done numerous 5Ks over the past year, and decided to challenge myself even more with a 10K on July 4th.
Does anyone have any tips for upping my mileage, and preparing for the upcoming race? It's gonna kick my butt if I don't start soon!

Thanks, and good luck to everyone who needs it!

Default Re: training for races

Hi Kiah. I competed in my first 1/2 marathon in Dec. 2007. I have ran numerous 5K and 10K races but wanted to push to the next level. I used the training guide in the runners journal. I think you can go on line and print it out. It has a guide for uping your mileage to do a 10K (after you've accomplished the 5K). If you can't find it, let me know and I will post it in this forum for you. Good luck and "RUN SAFE, RUN SMART!!"
