When I earned my degree, I had to chose some type of physical activity to satisfy my "phys ed" requirement. I took yoga for one semester. I loved it. I was not trying to lose weight at the time, but I needed to. I did not lose because of it, but the instructor did take a measurement of our flexibility at the start of class and at the end of the semester. It was amazing how much more flexible I became during that 14 week period.

I would use it to supplement your cardio workouts but my ex-boss swears by it. This is the only activity she does and she swears by it. She is a size 4, but she may have always been tiny I really don't know.

I know it feels really good to use certain yoga poses after a strenuous workout.

I really would love to do yoga, but its something I feel I need someone to teach me how to do instead of using videos (though I have some).

I started taking yoga classes in June of 06. My yoga schedule is pretty intense. I go 4-6 times a week to Flow or Power yoga (although I started out in basics classes) In June of 06 I was a size 18.....and I now wear a size 6 and have reached my weightloss goal. I have toned my body more than I ever thought possible....and more than I have with any other type of exercise. I do believe that yoga has been a major contributor to my success. I highly recommend taking classes as opposed to videos. It is just a more solid experience in a classroom setting with someone there to make sure that you are using proper alignment. Check out the pics on my page .....I was much larger than a an 18 in my before pics....(taken in 2000), but the after pics will tell the story.
