Default Just curious on what makes us lose interest and quit our diets or healthy lifestyles?

For me I think its being too comfortable and actually forgetting ....Maybe lack of intrest and not really making it a longterm way of life..

For me i think it is secretly missing the comfort of eating as much as you want as often as you want. I believe that basically everyone overeats for psychological reasons and unless you analyze underlying problems of what is causing you to overeat psychologically you are just going to feel like you are depriving yourself and not helping yourself. Sometimes without food we can feel like we have nothing when that really isn't the case.

Modern conveniences. The more dependent we are with modern conveniences, the lazier we've become as a society. Gyms are now equipped with escalators / elevators. Local restaurants and supermarkets will deliver food right to your door. Laundromats will iron and fold your clothes. We can watch movies online as oppose to going down to the video store to rent. Supermarkets such as Publix are pampering their customers with conveniences, including medical checkups, so we don’t have to go far. And, we are communicating more and more with our friends online as oppose to meeting up with them. All these modern conveniences, unfortunately, dampen our mobility.

I think part of it is that we're all waaaaaaaay too hard on ourselves. We forget that the simple pleasures in life should not make us feel guilty or inadequate, they ought to be sweet little pick me ups that add variety to our lives. We often are so strict when it comes to diet that we can cut out all the things that makes food so gosh darn enjoyable!
I believe that if we all adopt a healthy outlook, then our changes will be much more realistic and we will see more long term goals. When you adopt a healthy lifestyle it shouldn't be for today, it should be for tomorrow, i.e. The Future.
The excercise thing gets boring, but, if you understand that every activity has a value you'll be laughing! Walking the stairs and even shopping, for goodness sake, burns so many calories (as long as you stay away from the crap the malls sell in the food courts!)
So I say, enjoy your no-fat non-whip vanilla bean latte! Enroll in a wacky, yet fun fitness activity like Stripacize! And, $#%! the nay-sayers and get down to it! Who on Earth told you you can't have that piece of pizza!? Well, I've just worked out, I've eaten carrot sticks for a week and I deserve it!
I deserve that one slice, if only for my sanity!

I agree.... life is just too easy these days. But for me I always had horrible eating habits. I remember going to the local mini mart during luch in high school and eating an entire can of whipped cream. I was thin then but active I walked to friends houses.... always on the move so that counteracted the bad habits. Now I am a stay at home mom with the same poor habits and a sweet tooth so it all cought up to me. Now I realize my faults but its so hard to develope new habits when your this old.
