Default At Home Exercises!

Anyone know of some exercises that I could do at home? Something kinda simple and basic, I'm just starting out. I wanna do more than just walking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ......

Default RE: At Home Exercises!

here are I few I do everyday, that do not require weights and stuff.
1. step up. It works the butt back thigh and frint thigh. Its simple, just stand on the edge of a step with your back facing the step and step down backwards and back up, Just steo down to the point that your foot does not touch the step below. alternate legs.
2. side step. Do the same exercise only turn to your side and step down side ways. This works the inner and outer thighs pretty good.
3.calf raises. just stand up straight and lift up your feet to stand on your toes. for more resistance hang the back of your feet off of a step.
4. butterfly curls. This workd the chest. Just lay flat on the floor and put a heavy book in each hand and bend your arms slightly and bring your arms up and back down.
5.chair lifts. put a chair up against the wall with the seat facing out. now sit with your legs out in front of the chair, put your arms back and lift yourself up, It works the back of the arms really good. for less resistance just bring your legs closer to your body.

Hey Trish

I have been doing turbo jam on the days I want to change up my workouts and not go to the gym and find it is a great workout and easy to follow. There are many different videos for different areas or just cardio but it is a killer workout. Hope this helps!

I'm dealing with the same problem right now. My gym membership expired a couple of months ago and I haven't had the time or the funds to renew it, so I'm trying to take advantage of every little thing that can be done at home. You should check out FREE Exercise Programs - Workout Routines & Weight Loss Diet Plans It creates a personalized work-out program based on questions that they ask you, and you can opt to design an at-home fitness routine- no gym, machines, or weights needed!

I need to learn some at home exercises as well. I don't have money to buy a gym memebership or any equipment beside weights. Plus, for me to go walking outside I either have to hire a babysitter or go really late at night. Walking with the kids is impossible as they take turtle steps.

Carolina,
With your kids one thing you could do is pull them in a wagon on walks it will add resistence or you can push them in a stroller. Also adds resistence.

Wink Re: At Home Exercises!

I have a wonderful option if you want to purchase a dvd...however...you can get at your local bookstore or through amazon.com really cheap. It is Jillian Micheals's Frontside and Backside Beginner DVD. It is a two dvd set and very worth the money. It uses one set of dumb bells or free weights, a folding or sturdy chair and towel or mat. There is also an option for one of those resistance bands but it is not necessary.

I do warn you, however, there is no set and no music, but to me I feel like I am getting my own personal training session right in the privacy of my own living room, so the music is not needed. If I was at the gym getting a personal training session there would be no music either. It works for me.

Anywho, she does what is called circuit training. Where you do a burst of cardio, then two strength training exercises which become a set and then repeat each set three times. It sounds more complicated then it really is, but it works...and it works you hard if you are a beginner! You only have to do each of the dvds twice a week to see results. I do frontside on Wednesdays and Sundays and backside on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Of course you should always do your normal cardio at least 3-4 times weekly, but let me tell you! These dvds are great and I am just your average everyday college student trying to shed some weight!! Hope this helps!

I bought a mini-trampoline at WalMart for like $19 and I LOVE to jog on that while I'm watching "You Are What You Eat" on BBC-America while the baby is napping!

I'm thinking about taking it to school for lunchtime workouts if I can find a place to keep it safe from the children in my classroom.
