I did some research and talked to my doctor and found out that i should not be eating soy protein (and to try to avoid soy in foods as much as possible since it's in everything from ice cream to bread). Well, as a vegetarian, i ate lots of veggie burgers and veggie sausages which are mostly soy protein. I tried for a few weeks without eating meat substitutes, but was not getting enough protein. I just don't like beans enough, and the main reason i stopped eating meat to start with was for my cholesterol so i couldn't substitute cheese and eggs, so i am back to eating meat in modertion...
I have thyroid disease too. I was diagnosed hypothyroidism. I didn't know not to eat soy. I try to eat it whenever possible. Hmmm, thanks for sharing this!! I wonder what it does to the thyroid. I try to eat less meat, so yeah, we do eat those veggie burgers and soy products too. Lately tho, we've been eating more meat because of my anemia too. I had no idea!! I was hoping to train myself to drink soy milk and I always opt for soy when I can. Good to know!!

Well, I am definitely planning on walking today one way or another! I didn't get a good one in yesterday and I can feel it when I don't. It's beautiful here today and I really want to take advantage of the day.

I walked around a super Target by my daughter's place of employment. I went into the exercise aisle and actually saw some kettlebells. I tried them out. I liked them because you can put them over your head, behind your head, and do some different movements than my hand weights. I also got to try the new fandangled hand weights with the hand guards so they don't fall out of your hands. The hand weights I have are very big as they are from the early 80's. They are only 3 lbs, but very cumbersome to use. I saw all kinds of interesting things I wanted to try there.

Good job running!!! I was doing running intervals and i am working up to starting them again and increasing my times. It's very fun setting goals and surpassing them!

Stacey and Lisa, I was a vegetarian for 9 years and it really messed up my health. I suffered from a lot of digestive problems as well as anxiety and depression. It wasn't until I started looking at my diet and researching what I was eating that I realized how bad soy is. Stacey, it does suppress the thyroid and because it is high phytates it binds with minerals so you don't digest them.

I love Sally Fallon (she changed my life) and this video sums up a lot of the problems with soy (this is video 1 of 4)
YouTube - Sally Fallon: The Truth About Soy and Why its Toxic - 1/4

I understand that everyone is going to have a different opinion about soy, but for me this has helped me 100%
