OK, I found some macronutrient guidelines. Apparently, 25% of a diet being fat isn't such a terrible thing. Here's the chart I found:
Moderate Diet: 50% Carbs, 25% Protein, 25% Fat (that's me)
Moderate II : 55% Carbs, 25% Protein, 20% Fat
Zone Diet: 40% Carbs, 30% Protein, 30% Fat
Low Fat: 60% Carbs, 25% Protein, 15% Fat
Low Carb: 25% Carbs, 40% Protein, 35% Fat
Very Low Carb: 10% Carbs, 45% Protein, 45% Fat
They said there's a difference of opinion on this matter. Some say that
only calories matter, and some think taking in less fat or fewer carbs works better. But most recommend that the extreme diets, very low fat and very low carbs, are for a small percentage of the population, and most people do well with more moderate diets.
So... maybe I'm not doing so bad after all. By the way, most of my fat comes from nuts, peanut butter, meat, etc, but I'll also have the occasional biscuit, cookie, or handful of potato chips. I'm still working on cutting *all* of the junk food from my diet, but I've definitely done better this week than last week, so that's a step in the right direction.

And I definitely try to stay away from trans fats. So I guess the better I do with my junk food exclusion policy, the less fat I'll have in my diet. Another reason to cut it out!
