Hi I would like to join this challenge. I would like to be in the group that's wanting to lose weight. I have about 86 pounds to lose. Thanks in advance for letting me join.

Maggie

ok, sign me up, but i guess i'll have to purchase a scale. i only do weight 1x per month, when i'm around a scale. i have a hard time losing weight because of PCOS, but i'll try this survivor. besides worse case i'll have new friends...loss of weight group.

What is everyone doing to get active this week? What areas of this journey are the most challenging for you?

It's so great to see some new players!!!

Hi Maggie, Becky, and Rach! I'm so glad to have you guys!

OMG I *love* the swearing off junk food for two weeks! I'm copy-"wild" catting you right now! No (more) junk food for me for two weeks.

About the mini-challenge, we have from Wednesday to Sunday to do it, before the challenge officially starts, so that's five days. Not a long time, so lets start out with something easy. For the next five days, try to eat three servings each of fruits and veggies, and drink plenty of water. For the fitness challenge, choose your method of cardio (walking, running, etc) and let's see who can get the most miles in. Biking counts too, but only for 1/2. (because walking and running are self-powered, and you can obviously get further faster biking, so hopefully 1/2 value is a fair enough estimate. Any disputes, let me know, ok?) Fairly easy, but still a motivating warm up, I think. We'll start on this tomorrow, ok guys?

Oh, and if you don't have a tape measure, I need you to pick one up this week. They're super cheap, just a plain old cloth one from the sewing supply section at Wal Mart is a dollar or two and will work perfectly. Thanks guys!

And Becky, you don't technically *have* to buy a scale if you don't want to, as long as you have access to one you can use on a weekly basis. (Maybe at a friend's house, or at a supermarket or GNC, etc.) I think they come in handy, so if it's not a problem, I'm all for you buying one. PCOS is a tough one, but hopefully the challenge will help; and you're right, you'll definitely be making some new friends!

Hey, a friend of mine on Facebook just told me about this new exercise she does at a class in her gym called "man-makers" The name is sexually exclusive, but the exercise isn't. It's just HARD! Google it if you want the details, but basically you hold dumb bells in your hands the entire time. Start in push up position, do a push up (hands on dumb bells!), then do a row with one arm, go back down and do another push up, then row with the other arm, then jump your feet up to your hands like in a squat thrust, stand up quickly and do a press, then hop back down into push up position. That's 1. I'm thinking... I wonder how many of those I could do before passing out.... Maybe 5? LOL

Just thought I'd share that, in case anyone wants to check it out.

Hi all I would love to join. Right now I am at a -10 fitness level. Other than taking care of my house & family I pretty much do nothing.

Hi guys! I went walking with a friend of mine from work today. Not trying to be mean, but she's just starting out, and she slowed me down quite a bit. Slow walker, fast talker. I don't even know if I should count that walk as a workout.... *sigh* Not sure how to un-invite her from my workouts.

Got 2 slow miles in today.

By the way... Hi Sara!!
