Stiff neck; my brother & I finally hugged after 20 years
Posted February 26, 2009
File under: Weight Loss

My nephew was so sick his mom took him to the hospital. He’s at my house now. Looks like everything is going to be ok.

This morning I woke up with a stiff neck. So stiff that I could not look down or from side to side. At work I drooled…..oatmeal down my shirt and couldn’t look down to clean myself. Rodney keeps telling me it’s my pillows - the two stacked pillows caused it. So tonight I will try just one pillow.

As much as I wanted to be Superwoman and be out there exercising like usual - I know my limitations. I chose to sit out of both Kickboxing and Pilate tonight. Tomorrow, I will do my 4 mile jog/run; very little head movements required there.

My brother and I finally had a blowout last night. It was a lot of tension in the making. It’s hard dealing with my mom’s cancer, his unemployment for the last year and just issues with so many other family members. As some of you know, I made the decision to get my own place - separate from my brothers and mom. This is causing a lot of tension in my house; especially since I’m the only one employed.

The blowout was in the making. What came out of it? Our first “real” talk as brother and sister. He cried I cried we both cried. Mom isn’t going to be around too long. We have to make the most of it. I need to stop alienating myself and be part of the family until the move. We all have a role to play in this family. It’s time we all step up as a unit.

We both realized the only real time we spent together was 20 years ago. 20 years!!!!! Yet the last few we lived together. Last night was the first time, he hugged me and I told him how I truly felt. I felt that he doesn’t love me and he is more focused on other people. He says the hardest people to talk to is in your own family. Last night was the FIRST TIME he admit wrong doing and apologized!!

Well, what I took from our argument is Mom is first! I need to spend quality time with her. I need to “talk” to my brothers more! No jumping to conclusion…talk!

It felt good - to talk and to vent because I can do it with you guys, but it’s so hard to do it with everyone except Rodney here at home.

With Rod by my side we will be ok. It’s just a matter of time. We need to focus on what’s imporant; not what he said she said - that’s old news. It’s about living the moment and quality over quantity with mom.

It’s so awesome!!! So so great! After about 20 minutes of RODNESS making excuses…I’m tired, I’m out of shape, my butt hurts, I can’t find my shoes, where’s my grey socks? Rod and I went and did a 4 mile JOG/RUN/LITTLE WALKING!

Well He walked and I ran up and down from one light to the next. He was a good sport! We did it together our first official marathon training! Whoooooooooo hoooooooooooo!!

We did it in the streets! I want MORE MORE MORE! But butthead is “tired”!!!

It’s time to eat and whoo hoooo relax!!! I LOVES IT LOVES IT! Ok I want to do it again on Saturday! This time on my other route via the church!!!!!

OH YES BABY! WE DID IT!

Wonder how he’s going to act the next time I bump it up to 6 miles!

If somebody asked me a month ago if I can see myself even running a mile I would laugh in their face!

333 instead of 666?? Pasta for breakfast and CASINO W/ MOM

333 what does it stand for? THE NUMBER OF REGULAR PUSH-UPS I DID TODAY! Whooo hoooo *Pop my own collar*. Nick, this time I did not bump my head on the way down!!!!

All the hooplah yesterday over my blog took my attention from blogs and the forums. Sucks big time but will try to make up for it today. Whatever, time to move on to other issues. Dead issue to me. I made my point. Way too many other issues to address and people to get to know and meet. I care maybe too much at times but hey, I speak my mind and not afraid to voice my own opinion in my blog. If I was rude to someone on their blog then I’d understand.

Anyhow, forgot to say that I changed up my breakfast - as a test! Test worked. I ate 3 servings of pasta with meat sauce. Yah know what? It kept me full from 8am to 1pm. If I eat my usual, I try to eat the oatmeal and apple, then a raw apple and 11am then lunch by 1pm. I loved it. I think I will go buy more organic whole wheat pasta for work next week.

Today I changed up breakfast again. Ate raw mixed nuts and sweet potatoe chips instead of my usual. Gotta keep it fresh.

Rod and I also ate a huge fuji apple before our run yesterday. He did have a tummy ache along the route but I didn’t. I think he was just using it as excuse to catch his breath from walking.

Tonight I’m taking my moms out! Just me and her to the Indian Casino in San Diego county. I gave her some money, money I don’t have but hey when she’s gone, I can make more of it. So we are going to just have fun. She gambles I watch her gamble and have fun. She is the ultimate slot machine lover. It’s her escape from reality. Right now I need it too.

Then tomorrow is 6 mile run day!!!!

Love you guys! THANK YOU FOR PUTTING UP WITH ME!

Saturday night run! 2/28/09

A dream & reality in one 6 MILES = 70 MINUTES VIRGIN RUN/LITTLE WALK
Posted March 1, 2009
File under: Marathon 2010, Run/walk/jog, Weight Loss

I’m so sorry I have not been on all day! I slept, went to Denny’s with Rod for lunch. I opted for the tilipia dinner for lunch w/ the bread. Well worth it.

Then I came home, slept some more and up to eat an apple for my scheduled run.

When I set out Rod told me to take my cell. I didn’t want to because I didn’t want to “know” how long 6 miles is going to take me. This will be my FIRST 6 MILE RUN/with walk interval training.

My goal 6 miles in 90 minutes.

I started off not knowing how it’s going to go but I knew I wanted to do my best. I didn’t want to get too pumped up as I am so new to running. So I started. 3 mile run 2 min walk, 5 min run, 2 min walk and so forth. I encounter slopes and sidewalks with no side areas and I kept going and going.

60 minutes in I hit the 5 mile block but didn’t know if I have it in me to push for that last 1 mile in 70. At this point I couldn’t believe I made it that far that fast. So I ran and ran and ran.

I cried when I touched the button to cross the street. THERE IT WAS 6 MILES 70 MINUTES!

I called Anj and cried. I actually wept openly because I didn’t believe in myself. I did not believe I had the goods to do it. But my body spoke to me.

It thanked me for feeding it the proper food, for the water and for the care I’ve given it for this last year. With that it awarded me.

So my goal next week is to run from home to work two to three times. I mapped it. It’s a 5 mile run. I know I can do it now!!

BTW, Rod has a bad back and did not join me for the run. He’s in L.A.

I have to eat now and stretch.
