Default Commit to Get Fit... October

Welcome to Commit to Get Fit!

Ask yourself this.....


Are you ready to start 2009 at the size and weight your in now? Is this how you imagined you would look and feel by then? Is your health where you want it to be?


I had to ask myself these questions cuz I was starting to slack off of my plan...you know, the plan you make when you're all pumped up to get fit. Well I need some help getting back to that.

I started this thread for myself and anyone who might find it useful.... it's an accountability thread. Joining here means you will COMMIT to working out 3-6 days a week of exercise. And posting your workouts/activities for you and all to see.
It's an awesome way to look back at what you have or have not done. Keeps things honest.
It doesn't matter if you run, walk, bike, do DVD's, or go to the gym..... just as long as you are consistantly doing something to Get Fit.

I think I have already used up all the excuses my little head can come up with.... it's now really time to Commit to getting fit!!!!

October is here and we need to pump things up a little more this month. Our little group started in September and I hope you all were able to keep track of you log. This will be a great opportunity for us to look back and compare last months workouts to this month. If you didn't that's okay, just start keeping track from here on.
I know for myself, I slacked off too much in Sept so this month, I'm gonna bring it! Just in time for Halloween, and a cute maybe even sexy costume awaits me this year! How about you?
So let's get out and move!!

Hi everyone. I can't believe it's October already. I am aiming to lose 1.5 lbs a week, so 6 lbs total is my weightloss goal for the month of October.

My October Goals:
I want to be able to do 30 push ups
Lose 10 lbs
Drop from my current size 14 to a size 12 comforably
Be able to wear my favorite shirt for Thanksgiving that I haven't worn for 3 years that is only a Large in stretchy material.
Eat breakfast on a regular basis

If I meet my weight goal, I will be at 196 by November 1st. That's still far away from my ultimate goal, but on September 1st I started out at 214 so that would be an overall 18 lb loss total.

Happy October 1st!!!!! I would like to lose 10 pounds this month. I believe I can get there by walking everyday, watching my dietary intake and being more physically active. I would be at 221 hopefully by November 1st. Every pound down is exciting!

Danielle, with as much walking as you have been doing, I am sure you are gonna make your goals!!! You have been doing great!

Hi all - Jennifer 'Newbie' here!

Quick before I post my goals, a little background on my current situation - I'm due for surgery on October 20th for an ongoing problem (I have pseudo tumor cerebri, and a shunt in my spine) - so I'm living with mind-blowing headaches at the moment. Take a migraine and raise it to the power of 100 ... and you're getting close ... LOL

Anyway, I didn't want to delay my healthy lifestyle changes any longer, upcoming surgery or not. I can't exactly rely on 'getting better' - I mean I hope I do, but I've already had 6 operations in the last two years! So NOW is the time. No matter what. I just may need to take it a little easier than I'd like, until I recover from my op. My headaches should be better afterward, too!

So with that in mind, here are my (mild) goals for October ...
1) eat a healthy breakfast every day
2) drink my water
3) NOT GIVE UP despite feeling unwell
4) make better food choices
5) try to do some gentle physical activity three times a week, like treadmill walking or once around the block, etc. This is a big improvement from my constant resting due to the headaches - I just need to move, at least a little, a few times. Pain allowing.
6) I don't know how much I can manage to lose this month, especially with a 5 (or so) day hospital stay. I'd LOVE to say ten pounds! But I know that's not realistic. So I'll say 7 - because that would take me to 230, or ten total pounds lost since starting. I'll shoot for 7, but be very happy with 5.

First of all, Thank you Isabelle for starting this thread again.. I did find it very helpful and I really like our group. Welcome to all the newbies, this is a very nice group of ladies..

My Goal for October is to lose 6 - 8 lbs. That will get me down to about 165 and then only 20 more lbs after that.. For some reason my weight loss has been very slow. I seem to mess up on weekends with the grandkids, and I need to stop that. Oh I guess I should explain, mess up by eating too much with the grandkids. I will start my log after taking Heidi for her walk..
