I like to ask this question of myself to keep me focused and realizing that I am making good choices.

Today I have planned my meals, and am sticking to the plan. I am doing well on my calorie burn as well.

So to everyone else, what have you done today to make you feel proud?

Got Inches? The Inches and Pounds Challenge!

*Alright, so here's the deal:* This challenge is open to anyone and everyone, but it is perfect for those ladies who are having a hard time getting that scale to cooperate! It will be a 3 month challenge to start and it's going to consist of a weekly weigh in (With point gain, maintain or loss, according to your weight loss, maintain or gain) and it will also consist of a monthly bodily measurement (with point gain, maintain or loss according to your overall inches loss, maintain or gain). What I hope to do is stir up some inspiration and support for those that are having trouble, are in a sticky spot, like some competative competition, or are just looking to have a good time while burning off those inches and pounds at the same time!

I decided to start this challenge because I'm in one of those spots where my clothes are fitting looser, I'm noticing my fitness levels rise (slowly but surely), but that scale is just NOT moving! (At least not much!) Most weight loss challenges here seem to be targeted for weight loss, and that's great, because at some point, reguardless of how many inches we burn off, that scale is going to HAVE to drop at some point! BUT, in the mean time, I thought it would be refreshing to target a different area of weightloss, and start a challenge to reward gals on both pounds lost AND inches lost.

What you'll need:

A scale that you can weigh yourself on regularly
A plyable measuring tape (The cloth ones used for clothing/sewing work great!)

Measurement areas consist of: Image: http://www.renaissance-sewing.com/images/Body_Measurements.GIF

A- Neck, the thickest part, typically half way between shoulders and chin
B- Chest, above the bust, under the arm pits
C- Bust, typically just above the nipples
D- Waist, the narrowest area, ~1-2 inches above the belly button
E- Hips, the widest part where the hips and butt protrude the most
J- Bicep, halfway between the shoulder and the elbow
M-Thigh, the thickest part, typically just underneath the butt
And also, the Calf. It's not listed, but you measure at the thickest part of the calf.
Forget all the other lines and whatnot listed on that picture, that's more for measuring for clothing than weightloss.

Points will be based on the following:

Weekly:

Weight loss -

Loss = +10/week
Maintain = +5/week
Gain = -10/week

Monthly:

Inches lost -

Loss = +20/month
Maintain = +5/month
Gain = -20/month

Exercise = +5/day
Eating Healthy = +5/day

I've also noticed that a lot of people on other challenges like the idea of a personal goal for each week that they tally each day.. So,

Persoanl challenge = +5/day

Drinking water is also very important for your body and for weighloss. So, part of the challege is going to be to get people to drink at least 8 - 8oz glasses a day!

Drink 8 - 8oz glasses = +10/day
Don't drink 8 - 8oz glasses = -10/day

The most important part of this challenge is to offer and receive support and inspiration, have a place to track your successes (or the occassional bumpy road we may travel down), build friendships and HAVE FUN!

Reply here if you're interested.. My goal is to start November 29th (since the 1st is a Tuesday), so weigh ins and inch totals would be posted by Saturday the 28th.

Points Format:

Exercise (+5 or 0):
Eat Healthy (+5 or 0):
Weekly Personal Challenge (+5 or 0):
Water (+10 or -10):
Weekly Weigh in (+10, +5 or -10):
Monthly Measurement (+20, +5 or -20):

Daily Total:

Hi all!
I'm new here. I was on another site, but it was a bit overwhelming and just didn't quite fit me - I'm hoping this site will be better (thus far it is!) :)

I've lost 50lbs since mid-May and am looking to lose another 40 by the end of February. I've definitely learned to eat healthier, which is a huge part of what helped me lose the 50, and now I need to learn to stick to a regular exercise plan. I'm ready for it, though, and can't wait to be in incredible shape! :D

New Group for College Aged Kids?

Hey! I am fairly new to this community, but everyone seems so welcome and motivated! I love it! I was wondering if there would be any interest in starting a group dedicated to helping fellow dormies/college aged friends get healthy and lose weight? As anyone who has been in this situation knows, it is tough to find healthy food choices at the college cafeteria, and downright intimidating to work out in front of athletic football or soccer players in the school gym. We can bounce ideas off each other about how to combat these situations, and just generally be there for each other to listen and keep each other moving toward our goals? Any takers? :)

Greetings,

I've lost about 140 pounds so far and would like to lose another 100 by July 2010.

I'm new here and just posted my first blog entry a few minutes ago. I don't want to be redundant and put the same info here. Suffice it to say that I am happy to have found this place as I love to give and receive motivation.

Thank you!

Workout DVD Swap!

Hi everyone,

How would everyone like to have a place to do workout DVD swaps?

If you have a workout DVD that is still in good condition but that maybe you are bored with and ready to part with, post it here! Please post a good description of the workout (length, type, intensity, etc.).

Then, if you see something posted here you are willing to trade for, you can send a Private Message to the other person and arrange to ship the DVD's to each other.

So, for instance, say I have a Tae Bo workout I'm willing to part with, and I see someone else has posted that they have a dance workout I'd like to try. I'd contact that person or post here, see if he or she is willing to swap, and if yes, then send a Private Message to give each other mailing addresses. (That will keep private information private, instead of posting addresses here.)

If you ship a DVD or VHS tape by Media Mail, it is really cheap, maybe $2. It's a cheap way to unload some workouts you are ready to part with and try something new!

Anyone want to trade??

How do you KEEP being motivated???

I am a crash-diet type of person. I pick a diet--Atkins, Hallelujah, fasting, Slim Fast, or my own creation. I get super motivated, follow everything exactly as planned, loose a lot of weight, then CRASH!

Originally, my motivation was that I simply HATED being fat. Now that I'm not super overweight, and I hide my fat well with clothing, that doesn't work anymore. Food has some sort of hold on me. I'm an emotional eater. I eat when I'm happy and when I'm sad. I use food for comfort and for celebration. And I feel so deprived and have that "poor me" mentality whenever I'm dieting.

Not only do I hate dieting, but I hate exercising too. I do it. Don't get me wrong. But I hate it. I hate the woman on my aerobics DVD--I just want to slap her every time she says "I love this workout." Grrr.

So here I am. It's Sunday night. I'm having a canned coke and chips for dinner. :) And tomorrow is Monday. It's also my birthday. And again, I want to begin another diet. But I really don't know how to succeed.

If my diet is strict, I follow it very well, for a week or so. Then I give up. If my diet is to relaxed, I forget that I'm dieting and end up eating whatever. I'm so frustrated!

Any advice?

The Fat Assassins - New Group!

THE FAT ASSASSINS

This is a new group and everyone's welcome!

There's only one rule and that is you check in on a daily basis and offer your fellow group members support and get support for yourself :D.

We'll also do weekly challenges and weigh-ins. You can weigh in when ever you like as long as it's once a week.

The member with the highest % of weight lost every week will have the chance to create the new challenge for the next week ;).

_________________________________________________________________

Since we're all at different levels in our diet/fitness programs I'll start this weeks challenge off with a couple to choose from. You can choose one or all if you like :).

#1 - Drink 8-10 glasses of water this week
#2 - Eat your heavier carbs during the day and only fiberous carbs with your protien for dinner (veggies, salad etc.)
#3 - Do at least 300 minutes of cardio this week
#4 - Do at least 200 push ups this week

Choose your challenge and post what yours is going to be this week :D

Lets Do this together!
