Default RE: sodium?

Well, for me it causes water retention and then the scale reads higher. In order for me to lose weight I need to do low fat, low calorie, low sodium and a low carb. Sometimes sodium doesn't affect people. I would just keep in tune with your body. Maybe weigh yourself the day after you've eaten the soup. Then take a couple days break from high sodium and see what the scale reads. But it is suggested to watch that sodium intake.

I love miso but it does have alot of sodium. Sodium makes your body retain water among other things.. I found that i don have to compleatly elimidate things like miso, shoyu, ponzu. but i do limit them and once a month(every 3 months lately) i do what is called a sodium buster diet. For 4-5 days is eat in the morning NO SODUIM added cottage cheese and a orange or grapefruit.(takes some getting used to) I dring a big glass of green tea (But brew it your self. not the flavored kind in a bottle) The tea is like a diuretic. Then for lunch i have chicken breast boiled with lemongrass and ginger and salt substitute. Add salt sub just before eating because it does not hold up in cooking. I also have steamed or raw broc(cant spell it) with a little balsamic vinagar. as a snack i have orange or grapefruit Then for dinner I have the same as lunch but i add brown rice. I drink the tea all day. after 4-5 days i usually lose 2-3lbs just in water. I live in hawaii and we love to eat here. Miso everything. Miso fish, soup, miso peanut i am surprised there is no miso cake!

The water retention is a big thing. Other people, including some physicians, also claim interferes with a lot of other body processes, digestion, elmination, metabolism, concentration...etc. "" There's some guy on TV that is selling a "Six-Week Body Makeover". I wouldn't buy the program (all it is a 'how-to' for diet and exercise) and we already know all that. My girlfriend spent $200 on it,.... waste of money. "" However, if you get a chance to watch the infomercial or the video, there is an EXCELLENT discussion of the effects of sodium on the body. It's worth watching the infomercial just for that. "" But not everyone is that extreme and, even to this day, opinions still vary.

sodium causes my skin to breakout and make my jeans tighter around my waist, causes horrible cramps during my period, and overall makes me wish pepper didn't need a buddy.

If you drink a lot of water it will flush the salt out of your system. I definitely hate the bloated feeling after eating a lot of salt. drinking a ton of water (half my body weight in ounces or more) and the next day I'm usually back to normal. I can't imagine consuming a ton of salt every day though. I can't even handle those campbells soup to go's more than once or twice a week. super salty. I'm sure it affects different people differently, but you might try a low sodium version (if possible) or skipping for a day or two to see how you feel.

Here's a little trick to cut the sodium. Slice a potato (any kind except sweet potatoes), and put it into the soup. Cook until the potato is done. Remove the potato and discard it. The potato will soak up some of the excess salt in the soup. This works for soup, beans, or anything else that has a liquid base that is too salty. There will be a little starch leach out of the potato into the liquid, but it won't be enough to cause any extreme changes in taste or consistancy.

have you ever thought of taking the ingredients or finding a recipe and making your own soup?? don't know what's in this miso soup, never heard of it but get the ingredients fresh, not canned ect and make your own. it will overall be more healthy for you without all that sodium
