So many people have asked me about the Shangri-La Diet, I decided to tell you all about it here. I have been following the Shangri-La plan for quite some time. I lost 15 pounds really quickly on it when I first started doing it.
For anyone not familiar with the Shangri-La Diet: A scientist in Berkeley named Seth Roberts came up with this idea. It is based on eating tasteless calories.
How I do it:
Put 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil into a little cup. Fill the cup with ice cold water. Slug down the oil. Wipe mouth with napkin. Rinse mouth, so that no flavor or oiliness remains.
When you do this is up to how your body reacts. You should not eat anything one hour before taking the oil and one hour after taking the oil, so your body does not associate the oil with flavor.
The theory is, that if you can't taste it, your body doesn't register it as calories.
I take the oil twice a day. Usually I take it 1 hour after breakfast. Then again, 1 hour after lunch. I have also tried taking the whole dose before bed. That works well for me too.
