Default Food or Diet, What or Which...

Hello everyone, Your Personal Trainer Here, I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I had a very busy week end. Of course if you have children you know this. I also had to get my brownie points for taking car of my sick wife. She has a cold that won’t go away and I had to do my husband duties and take care of her as well as my children. For all you men out there, TAKE CARE OF YOUR WIFE. fficeffice" />>>
I wanted to talk to everyone today about FOOD. We all love food and well it may be the cause for us being here supporting each other. Food is not our enemy; it is very much a component that God intended us to have. Where we messed up is that we either eat too much or can't eat the right kind. I understand that other things could be at play to people gaining weight, i.e. thyroid going crazy, pregnancy, or even a disability. The fact is that food can fix the weight gain. If we do have a disability well then we need to be eating foods that give us energy, satisfy our filling and also will not stick to the body. Now I am not a dietitian, and I cannot prescribe diets. It is out of my scope of practice, but I can educate you and give you smart suggestions. And a lot of nutrition is simple and about making smart choices. You need to first point out what is it about food that you struggle with. The cravings, not getting enough, or simply not knowing what to select when you go to the stores. The problem is that there are so many diets out there that no wonder we struggle. We are as confused as to which one we should go on.>>
We have to remember that one diet for one person may not work for me. Our bodies were fearfully and wonderfully made. But also individually made. So the best thing to do is to feed the body what it was designed to have. Think of all the man made things out there that we eat. The synthetic food group is probably not the best choice for us. The diet pills, well that is a whole different topic. But just beware. In regards to the food educate yourself on basic nutrition. What the body needs and not what you want. Our body needs Protein, Carbohydrates, and fiber. The foods that you eat should have all the vitamins and minerals naturally contained. >>
The question I get in the gym is High protein and low carb, or no carb and low protein. Well all you ATKINS dieters, if there are any left, (Another Fad) Loose the Atkins attitude. You body was not designed to go on the Atkins diet. If you don't mind killing over due to high cholesterol then go until your heart is able. >>
Our bodies need a balance of carbs, protein, and fiber as well as the vitamins and minerals. Consider the hand to portion control. The protein should be size of the fist and your carb should be the size of your palm. Make sure that you get 30% of your cal diet is fiber. >>
Now at the store, after you have educated yourself on nutrition, go to the store and buy foods that are healthy. If you have kids, educate them on making good food choices and let them help you make the grocery list it becomes important to them now and they feel like they are making a contribution to good health in the home. Make smart choices in the store and also if time is an issue at home to healthy foods, consider preparing a menu for the week and sticking to it. Also if you can afford it a great investment is a food saver. Something that you can kryovac your entrees. I cook a whole weeks worth of chicken and portion it out with side items and then use my food savor. Now I can freeze the food and reheat it when I need a quick healthy meal. It sure beats the frozen dinners in the store. >>
The whole point is to educate yourself on nutrition, and make smart choices. A good site o go to is www.mypyramid.gov to get some helpful info. Everyone have a blessed day and eat right, the way God intended us to eat.>>
