Re: Rockstar Bio's: Who We Are and How We Got Here!
Born in Uvalde TX in 1972. Moved around a lot because my parents were trying to follow the American Dream and make a better life. Graduated from High School at 17 in Mississippi and when to college. When my Grandfather passed away in 1990, my folks moved to New Mexico to be with Grandma and asked me to come with them. Dropped out of college and bummed around (well, worked 3 jobs) until I joined the Air Force Christmas 1991. A year later I had a daughter and a divorce. Two years later I had another daughter and another divorce. :-) In 1996 I married my current hubbie. Funny story...he introduced me to my first hubby. He was the godfather to my children and my very closest fried. We said if we were ever single again, we'd get married...and here we are almost 12 years later...and we had our two sons (the human looking one and the one with the defomity that makes him look like a dog).
Ok...left the Air Force and joined the National Guard in 2000, only to come back on Active Duty after 911. Guess I figured I just belong here. Finished my degree in 2003 and recieved my commission in 2004. I've been stationed at Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls TX, Laughlin AFB in Del Rio TX, FE Warren in Cheyenne WY, Langley AFB in Hampton VA, Vandenberg AFB in CA, MacDill AFB in Tampa FL, and now Lajes ABW in the Azores (or rock in the middle of the Atlantic as we affectionately call it). We're headed to Huntington WV for the next two years and are really looking forward to it.
I've battled with my weight for quite some time. Of course there are weight standards in the military, so I have the added preasure of "if you don't lose the weight, you will lose your job". So I get on these roller coasters. Only this time I went way up on the high side. I'm not sure what happened, but I put on 50lbs in the past 2 years. Ugh! So, I'm working hard to bring it down again, and I'm committed to monitoring the scale...well...at least until I retire. Six more years baby!
Wow...I got winded there! Hobbies are reading fiction, walks, watching movies, and playing with the kids. I direct a Catholic youth group and raise money to buy stuff for the local orphanage. I love my husband and my friends, and I adore BBQ and Portuguese wine. And, I admit, FOOD! :-) I hate running, but will do it as soon as I lose some wieght and get the pressure off my heels.
Thanks for having this team, and thanks to Buddyslim for existing! :-)
