I have tried so many diets in the past, and the scale turned into my enemy - a pound here and there, maybe even 5, and then gain back 3 - not enough incentive to really stay with it - let's face it - it is HARD, and almost seems impossible at times.
i weigh myself - only when i go to my sisters house (so that it is the same scale) - about every month or so.. but really the test is my clothes - not the pounds.... the other day a co-worker came up and said are you dieting and i 'fessed up that i was, and i had started exercising too, she said she could tell by my clothes, which just hung on me, and maybe i needed to get better fitting clothes - she meant it nice, but it just came out almost negative.... anyways, the clothes i bought last spring now fall off of me, literally, i can't keep them up, even with a belt.... so i took the observation as a compliment
so what works for me - at least here in the beginning is to measure your success by your clothes & i guess when they start falling off, then weigh in - then you know you will see positive results - and what better incentive than that! the last time i weighed myself, i actually gained 2, but i knew the clothes still felt looser - so i know it was from muscle, not from weight put on.
