I was having the same issue. I started a new profile on an alternate e-mail address then deleted my old one. It now works, but was alot of work. I would wait to see if it gets fixed before doing this if you could. Just make sure you have all of your weigh in and other info to re-enter. You will heve to send new buddy requests to everyone on your list. Also, you will lose all of your blog info. It was worth it to me because I can't stand not being able to change it. I get bored with the same thing all the time.
